Knog Blinder 600 Front Bike Light Review
Looks like a worthy update to the existing Urban Arrow lineup. Will be interested to see what you think when you finally get to ride one!
Another improvment would be great : cable steering for more agility !
Always park your bike as close to the door as possible, never on the other side of the lot if you can help it.
The only thing that truly keeps me away from the Urban Arrow is the Enviolo hub. I'm all for ease of use with chain belt drives, and I'm also all for the easy shifting curve for not experienced riders; that being said, this bike is entirely too heavy to handle anything greater than a 6 percent grade. If they either went more upmarket with a Rohloff hub or did what Riese and Muller did and offer traditional 12 gears as a "Touring" option I would buy it. I rented an Urban Arrow before my final purchase of R & M Load 60 and I loved it; but I live where hills can be up to 12% grades and this bike is impossible to climb even with the powerful 85nm motor assistance.
Why not upgrade the kickstand! I lockable stand like the GSD has would be great. the Gazelle makki load has one, and it works very well, a very stable kickstand. I also love my auto enviolo gears, so to have that as an option would have been nice. looks very nice If I didn't already have an only 1.5yo UA I would consider this.
How entitled of you to block the walkway
I’m in the mulch😂
Thats a glorified bicycle, why not?
Those Bakfeits are really cool, just hard to move around.
Agreed! It’s not for everyone but very stable if you can deal with the bulk.
Look great. I see some influence from Lovens, but overall good update.
Would the child's legs not get wet assuming they're sitting on the bench seat? Or are they meant to sit cross-legged?
Looks like a nice evolution of the classic Family design...but the price tag....wow...that is optimistic. My Family from 2019 was below 5k and I still love it.
Good timing on your purchase! In 2021 a lot of bikes took a huge increase. Urban Arrows are now $1-2k more than when you bought.
Urban arrows are lile SUV. Massive and Heavy. That is probably why they appeal to the non cyclist parents and sell so well. But the could add a few different frame colors (i can imagine it looking nice in sky blue). I see this model as a refresh/improvment to keep it modern and in par to concurrents.
Sounds good.
Awesome!
Great to see the Multitinker and Multicharger accessories ecosystem growing! I read a post on on of the R&M Facebook groups about them adding "official" support for child seat in the Load and Packster - have you heard anything about that?
Yes! It launched a couple of weeks ago.
Thanks for pointing out that the rollbar is not actually a rollbar, at least not tested for that job. It would need to over from left to right to perform that job properly. This "security theatre", just marketing with security speech to tap into the fears of customers, is really dishonest. At best, you get marginal gains when your bike gets rammed by a suburban tank at 40mph. In normal cycling use, no one would get that bike to roll over.
Those are all great updates!
Is UA Connected even available in US/Can yet?
No :/
I'll be very interested to see the US pricing on this model. It seems very competitive in spec with the R&M Packster, I hope like Tern, Urban Arrow is also the Toyota to R&M's Lexus. (Sorry for the car analogy)
I think it definitely makes the Packster more appealing than the Load, which seems to have lost any reason to exist. The Packster now has rear suspension, and the superior passenger box. Also, the cover is nice to see on the Multitinker. But I think this is a better sign that they're gonna continue to develop the next version. Unfortunately, it's overall cargo/passenger weight capacity is still too limited in comparison to Tern, Yuba, Xtracycle, etc.
I suppose handling is a bit different as Packster has cable steering compared to steering arm rod on Load. Haven't tried Packster myself but anyways. I like that the Load is more modular with the walls, you can attach your own DIY stuff to it easier than EPP-box. But this Packster does look nice, will have to test it at some point.
@@akiparviainen_ Gotcha. Makes sense. I just haven't seen a modified Load in the wild. I've seen modified Yuba Supermarches and Bullitts though. R&M just feels too premium to tinker with :)
Would have liked to see an optional locking cover
Her: What will you use the cargo bike for? Me: ....Cargo? 🤨
Awesome - assuming not passengers or pets?
I came here looking for a 30 second answer and this woman can't even get to the point for 3 minutes.
Sounds like you just need a social post :)
do you still have this bike? how does it stack up against the other cargo non e-bikes?
I don’t. Sold it for the urban arrow about 6 years ago.
Is this a different Bosch motor system the Cargowagen Neo 2 uses?
I looked them up. The good news is that they are now down to $209.00! Bad news is that they are out of medium and large. Sigh.
You are so right about eye protection! I frequently hit bugs which go in my eyes at speed if I'm not carefully wearing eye protection which could damage my eyes and cause me to crash!
I would not have given this helmet a second look, but I value your opinion, so I looked. It is actually pretty cool, like what a Storm Trooper would wear to ride a bicycle. I don't need the connectivity junk which is making the price higher, but I do like a lot of the other features.
BTW, you look very cool on that Bakfeit. Just had to be said.
Great review. I would like my head lit up. At the same time, for $240, they better have some excellent colors, have a visor, be a generally good bike helmet, occasionally fold my laundry, and have a large size helmet if they hope it will fit on my head. I hope the folks at Aura are very successful, I wish them the best.
The missed out the chance to put the shades rim on the back to look like an aero add on when not in use
I was surprised there is no storage on the helmet for them!
Yes, having the same issues with my system. Want to like this helmet because of the nice design, but so many little annoying issues that are becoming big ones. The button on the helmet is really hard to press on and off. I thought at first it was a reset button but found out from your video that it was the on button. I had to press on this button hard multiple times to have it turn on or off. Really annoying. The lights are not that smart, sometimes both are red as if they are both rear lights. I have to switch positions many times and tried to adjust on the app but they do not update at all. The final straw is the turn signals- they work ok on the front and rear lights but is reversed on the rear light on the helmet. So when I press right on the remote the helmet is signaling a left turn. Kind of confusing for cars behind me! Not sure if I could just return all of these and get a refund. Like you said it’s more trouble than what I want to deal with before I head out to just ride. . They have been so slow to respond to my inquiries.
How does the apple watch work if your watch is on your right hand?
Hi! Remember there is a Manual mode for Turn Signals, where they will keep going until you press the Remote again 🙌
Thank you!! Apparently that is an update. When I talked with them a few weeks ago that wasn’t available yet 🙌
@@CargoBikeLifecomIt’s ‘a little buried’, but I’ve had it on my FARO for a year now: you do need to create a custom preset though. Once in there, the option is visible.
@@MrChinogam Yeah, if you do a video about their app it would be great if you can figure out how it works and share that 😅 I pretty much click around at random until I get it to do what I want The UI isn’t clear at all and I can’t remember how to do anything I do more than once How to get to the custom profiles? Where you can change the brightness, and patterns for the helmet and other lights? And the patterns and length for the turn signal unit? It’s not very easy at all and the app could really use improvement, and then some good instructions
excelente
Hello, thank you so much for your review! As the co-founder & Co-CEO of the brand, I confirm that we are expanding our CX team, but the overall satisfaction with the quality of our products is high. The main issue has been delays with Kickstarter, which I fully acknowledge, and I'd say that the AURA project was somewhat overwhelming, though we are now at 99% fulfillment. However, this is not due to the product itself, as the quality of the product is unquestionable. We understand that we need to improve our response speed; we have experienced an unusually high level of inquiries due to Kickstarter deliveries over the last four months. One last comment: It would be fair and accurate in the comparison to mention that the Lumos e-bike helmet is only certified for e-bikes in the Medium size. This means that if you are a size Large or Small, you wouldn’t have the option to purchase that helmet. Again, thank you very much for your review.
Thank you so much for chiming in. It is wonderful to hear your investment. Absolutely love them helmet. Interesting fact about the Lumos e-bike helmet. I’ll do some research as I’m going to do a lumos vs unit 1 video soon!
Definitely the Insta360 magnetic medallion... coupled with the GO2! I've been playing around with invisible selfie sticks and the ONE X2, but worry about stability and risk of falls... I see you use a fairly long one while on the go, have you found it stable enough, both for footage and physical integrity?
Yes, I try to mount it in two places if I’m going to extend it at all but sitting on my handlebars 12” off is totally good
I have an oval shaped head that’s 59cm round, but narrow, 21cm front to back Tried both a Medium and Large size of this helmet. The Medium was too tight. But the Large is quite wobbly side to side It’s wearable with the fit cranked in, but has lots of room side to side I could get foam to pad the sides, but that might ruin the ventilation Not sure if I’ll keep the helmet or not I like the lights, though I’m not convinced the turn signals will get drivers attention I worry the helmet may give riders a false sense of security It’s important to know drivers still won’t see you I’ve already had drivers not see the signals. So keep an eye out
